Business Development Manager

ROLE BACKGROUND

The sites existing senior leadership team comprises of a Managing Director with oversight of Procurement and Estimating, and a Production Director that oversees the SMT and assembly teams. The company has invested in a number of business improvements within its operations to enable it to maximise its growth potential and is now looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to leverage this growth.

JOB PURPOSE

To focus on the growth of the business by extending the reach of our products and services, identifying new sales leads and building strong client relationships. The role will involve UK travel, particularly in the North of England.

Key responsibilities & activities

Strategy

  • Work closely with the site Managing Director and Holdings PLC Directors to develop a sales strategy annual new business budgets.
  • Use industry insights to keep updated on the macro and meso environments of the company, feeding back insights to the leadership team to assess how these impact upon existing strategy.
  • Liaise with the external Marketing team to ensure relevant marketing materials are in place for effective delivery of the sales strategy, also including overseeing any outsourced telesales campaigns.
  • Ensure that the targeted offering to clients remains consistent with the product and service offering of the company.

Building networks and winning business

  • Build a strong network of industry contacts across all levels.
  • Understand the needs and wants of the Tier 1 and 2 markets and tailor our approach to suit the occasion, building effective client relationships.
  • Scope new business leads and opportunities in the Tier 1 and 2 markets.
  • Receive client project briefs and translate into an internal brief for action via Office 365 suite for internal communications and HubSpot for external client communications.
  • Lead the tender response process for new enquiries across all markets.
  • Convert client enquiries into orders and maintain contact during the development and manufacturing phases to ensure that customer expectations are managed.

KPIs and reporting



  • Attend weekly Sales meetings with the sales team and other key colleagues.
  • Provide sales updates at Bi-Monthly site board meetings.
  • Provide regular KPI reporting showing aggregated performance across multiple variables. This is usually carried out at weekly Sales and Marketing meetings, and monthly board meetings
  • Maintain records of client communications and sales pipeline via our HubSpot CRM


EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Experience in sales and new business generation, with demonstrated success, preferably in the Contract Electronic Manufacturing or distributor B2B sector
  • A detailed understanding of the CEM market including a reasonable technical understanding.
  • Strong commercial acumen with an ability to maximise opportunities.
  • Strong organisational, and personal skills.
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to build client relationships in person and by telephone, rather than an over reliance on emails.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office suite and CRM systems
