| Third Surface mount line | 04/01/2010

| Early last year we purchased a surface mount placement machine from CMAC. The machine, although clearly well looked after, did not work as it had been modified and some of the modifications had since been removed. The machine is an earlier version of the iPulse M1 machine and so it is a very capable full vision machine. It has been an ongoing project of ours, with help from Ian at Blundell Production Equipment, to restore and re-commission this machine and today we finally got the machine working giving us our 3rd surface mount line. | |

| Chris Parkinson, our trainee engineer, has today been awarded, the most coveted award available at Oldham Training Centre, the Apprentice of the Year award. | Today is our official first day in the new production facility. We have now 8760 Sq feet at our disposal to better facilitate our clients' needs and allow for possible expansion. | |

| In order that we can move to our new production facility in November we have decided to buy a new wave solder machine. This is to enable the transition of moving to be without interruption to our production and to maintain continuity of supply to our clients. We have chosen the Sun East Peak 350 model from Zen Production Equipment. The machine has so far exceeded our expectations and the consumable cost savings alone make this a fantastic solution | |

| Whilst for some time we have been aware of the benefits of selective soldering, until now we have been unable to justify the financial outlay when weighing up the potential benefits. Thanks to the EBSO Selective solder machine from Blundell this has now changed. We are getting consistent solder joints at less than two seconds per joint enabling us to hit the necessary increases in output numbers without the need for more staff. To ensure that traceability is possible throughout our process and have some sensible way of looking back we have installed a barcode scanning station which enables us to scan and store, against a unique reference point, a variety of different barcode serial numbers. |
